Competitors

The Competitors section keeps one shared watchlist between your SEO and GEO work, instead of two separate lists. Add rivals manually by domain, or let Visibilitas discover them automatically, either by SERP overlap (domains already ranking alongside yours) or by scanning your AI query answers for brands assistants mention instead of you.

Adding a competitor to the watchlist is free and never spends any credits. Tracking it is the deliberate next step: only tracked competitors are crawled and feed the keyword gap, content gap, and AI visibility tabs, so tracking is what counts against your plan's limits.

Building your competitor watchlist

Add a competitor by typing its domain into the Add a competitor form, or use the two discovery buttons above the list. Auto-detect collects candidates by SERP overlap. This is free and uses no credits. Detect from AI answers scans your scheduled AI probes and adds any brand or domain an assistant already names in place of you. Each card shows its source: Manual, Auto-detected, or Named by AI.

Adding a competitor only collects it as a candidate; it is not analyzed yet. Click Track on a card, or use the Select competitors dialog to choose several at once, to turn candidates into tracked competitors. Tracking triggers a crawl of the competitor's homepage (robots.txt respected) and feeds it into the gap analyses; the selection dialog shows separate counters for how many SEO and AI slots your plan allows, so you always know how much room is left.

While a newly tracked competitor is being analyzed, its card shows a short progress indicator until stats land. Once analyzed, cards report pages crawled, estimated domain authority, when the competitor was last analyzed, and how many times AI assistants have named it, with its share of voice. Stat cards at the top of the page summarize tracked count against your limit, total collected candidates, and how many arrived via auto-detection. Removing a competitor drops it from future comparisons but keeps its past keyword and content gap snapshots.

Keyword gap analysis

The Keyword gap tab lists keywords where a tracked competitor ranks in the top 10 and you rank lower, or don't rank at all. Each row names the keyword, the competitor holding the position, their position, your position (a dash if you're not ranking), and a combined score that weighs search volume against the position gap; rows are sorted by that score so the strongest opportunities surface first.

Opening this tab is always free: it reads a cached snapshot rather than spending DataForSEO credit on every visit. The snapshot recomputes automatically whenever you track or untrack a competitor, and again on your plan's own refresh cadence. If your account has hit its monthly DataForSEO limit, the tab explains that gaps will refresh next cycle rather than showing stale numbers as current.

You need at least one tracked competitor before this tab can show anything: with none tracked, an empty state points you back to the Watchlist tab.

AI visibility comparison

The AI share of voice tab measures your slice of brand mentions across every AI probe you track in GEO, compared against your tracked competitors, over a 7, 30, or 90-day window you choose. Three stat cards summarize the picture: your share of voice and mention count, how many of your tracked competitors AI actually named in that window, and which competitor was cited most.

Below the stats, a bar chart plots you against the top 10 most-cited competitors so you can see the shape of the conversation at a glance. A full watchlist breakdown ranks every tracked competitor by how often AI named it, with a share-of-voice percentage beside each; competitors AI hasn't mentioned yet show as "Not yet named in AI answers," and lists beyond 10 collapse behind a Show all toggle.

If nothing is tracked yet, or no AI answer in the chosen window mentioned you or any competitor, the tab explains why instead of showing an empty chart, usually with a prompt to confirm your AI queries are scheduled in the Queries tab.

Content gap & AI citation comparison

The Content gap view lists topics your tracked competitors publish on that your own target keyword list doesn't cover, each tagged with the competitor and a short note on the evidence behind it. Every row has a Write this button that opens the content wizard with the topic pre-filled, though you still choose references and shape the brief before anything is generated.

The AI citations view is the mirror image of GEO's Citations tab: instead of answers that named your brand, it shows answers where an AI assistant named a competitor from your watchlist instead. You can filter by AI model, by which competitor was named, and by a 7/30/90-day range. Each entry shows the model, the competitor named, the original question where available, the assistant's verbatim excerpt, and a link to the cited page if one was given: enough to see exactly what earned the competitor that mention.
